RhinoStop TruckGuard

RhinoStop TruckGuard features double height w-beam guardrails supported by heavy duty posts designed to withstand impacts from high-centre-of-gravity vehicles. The system height of 1.0 m improves visibility for truck drivers and forklift operators making it the preferred barrier solution for loading docks, transport logistic warehouses and car parks frequented by heavy vehicles.

RhinoStop TruckGuard may be configured with handrail and mesh infill providing pedestrian fall protection. The fully modular system uses off-the-shelf components facilitating rapid supply and installation and can be customised on site to suit specific project dimensions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does RhinoStop TruckGuard work?

The yielding behaviour of the RhinoStop TruckGuard baseplate absorbs vehicle impact energy, reducing the peak loads transferred to the anchor bolts. The deflection of the system allows for greater load transfer to the adjacent posts, sharing the impact load from the vehicle.

AS/NZS 1170.1 states that barriers installed in medium traffic areas are required to withstand a horizontal load of 40 kN. This impact force shall be distributed over a 1.5 m length at any position along the barrier and shall be assumed to act at 1.0 m above floor level. The 40 kN impact load is derived from a 2000 kg vehicle travelling at 2 m/s (7.2 km/h).

RhinoStop TruckGuard featuring energy-absorbing posts at 2.0 m centres has been crash tested to comply with ALL impact load conditions nominated in AS/NZS 1170.1, Clase 3.8. These crash tests include an impact with a 2000 kg dual cab utility vehicle travelling at 27 km/h and impacting the barrier at a height of 500 mm and a 2500 kg light truck travelling at 20 km/h and impacting the barrier at a height of 1.0 m.

RhinoStop TruckGuard features specially engineered, energy absorbing posts on baseplates. The RHS post section increases torsional strength, and the yielding baseplate reduces the peak loads transferred to the anchor bolts. The deflection of the w-beam guardrails absorbs vehicle impact energy, allowing the system to withstand higher speed collisions.

Yes, the modular design of RhinoStop TruckGuard can be assembled with a pedestrian handrail and mesh infill panels.

Yes, RhinoStop TruckGuard has been full-scale crash tested when installed on a 150 mm thick elevated concrete slab representing a loading dock or suspended concrete slab. This crash test configuration is designed to evaluate vehicle impact behaviour and the suitability of the anchor embedment depth.

RhinoStop TruckGuard is suitable for installation in warehouses, freight terminals, factories and industrial sites. The use of double height w-beam guardrail positioned 1.0 m above ground level enhances the visibility of the barrier for truck drivers. The use of double height w-beam guardrail also caters for varying vehicle types.

The RhinoStop TruckGuard posts are designed to be attached to a concrete slab. Each post is secured with two (2) M20 anchor bolts.

RhinoStop TruckGuard is an all-steel construction. The posts and w-beam guardrails are hot dipped galvanised enhancing durability.

The lower w-beam guardrail is installed at a height of 610 mm above ground level, measured to the top of the beam. This is the same w-beam guardrail height adopted for RhinoStop standard and RhinoStop Heavy Duty. The upper w-beam guardrail is installed at a height of 1020 mm above ground level, measured to the top of the beam.
