RhinoStop Elite

RhinoStop Elite is the benchmark in modular car park safety barriers combining vehicle impact containment with pedestrian fall protection. RhinoStop Elite features energy absorbing baseplates allowing the system to deflect during a vehicle collision and absorb higher impact forces. The yielding behaviour of the baseplates reduces loading to the anchor bolts preventing damage to the concrete foundation and facilitating ease of repair following design impacts.

The aesthetic design of RhinoStop Elite provides high cross flow ventilation, permits natural light into the car park structure and may be powder coated providing architectural excellence.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does RhinoStop Elite work?

RhinoStop Elite features energy-absorbing baseplates, allowing the system to deflect during a vehicle collision and absorb higher impact forces. The yielding behaviour of the baseplates reduces loading to the anchor bolts, preventing damage to the concrete foundation and facilitating ease of repair following design impacts.

Yes, the design of RhinoStop Elite combines vehicle impact containment with pedestrian fall protection. The design of RhinoStop Elite features a 1100 mm high balustrade suitable for shielding pedestrians from errant vehicles. The 97 mm gap between the balusters is designed to restrict climbing of the barrier by pedestrians.

Yes, RhinoStop Elite has been full-scale crash tested when installed along the edge of a 150 mm thick elevated concrete slab representing an elevated car park. This crash test configuration is designed to evaluate vehicle impact behaviour, potential for concrete edge failure and the suitability of the anchor embedment depth.

The standard configuration of RhinoStop Elite featuring energy-absorbing posts at 2.3 m centres has been crash tested to comply with ALL impact load conditions nominated in AS/NZS 1170.1, Clause 3.8. These crash tests include impacts with 2000 kg dual-cab utility vehicles travelling at 20 km/h and impacting the barrier at heights of 500 mm and 1000 mm above ground level. The impact performance of RhinoStop Elite demonstrates an ability to contain vehicles with varying bumper heights travelling at speeds considered representative of a worst-case impact condition.

The average weight of new vehicle sold in Australia is approximately 2000 kg as the vehicle fleet continues to shift towards SUVs and dual cab utility vehicles. It is therefore important that the specified car park barrier has demonstrated the ability to withstand these heavier vehicle impacts.

The aesthetic design of RhinoStop Elite provides high cross flow ventilation, permits natural light into the car park structure and may be powder coated providing architectural excellence.

The gap between each vertical baluster is just 97 mm providing compliance with building code guidelines for a pedestrian balustrade.

End panels are available in lengths of 312 mm and 615 mm, measured from the centreline of the last post to the outer edge of the end panel.

In addition, the Standard does provide sufficient guidelines for the crash test evaluation of a barrier system including impact location, test article length and positioning of the barrier on a concrete slab. This omitted information makes it difficult to compare the impact performance of various barrier systems.

The RhinoStop Elite panels measure just 100 mm reducing encroachment into the car parking spacing. The narrow system width also provides suitability for installation adjacent to pedestrian pathways and warehouse applications.

RhinoStop Elite is an all-steel construction. After fabrication the components are hot dip galvanised providing a durable finish.
