RhinoStop Heavy Duty

RhinoStop Heavy Duty warehouse barrier system is designed to absorb high-energy and high-speed impacts. The energy absorbing baseplate and w-beam guardrail used in the design of RhinoStop Heavy Duty allows the system to absorb higher impact loads.Ā  The yielding behaviour of the baseplate reduces the peak loads transferred to the anchor bolts preventing damage to the concrete foundation. RhinoStop Heavy Duty is the preferred warehouse barrier system to withstand impacts from forklift trucks and heavy mobile machinery.

Combining the strength of w-beam guardrail with energy absorbing posts, absorbing vehicle impact energy and reducing the peak loads transferred to the anchor bolts.

RhinoStop Elite is the benchmark in modular warehouse safety barriers combining vehicle impact containment with pedestrian fall protection.

The system height of 1.0 m improves visibility for truck drivers and forklift operators making it the preferred barrier for loading docks and transport logistic warehouses.

Standing up to 2.5m high, RhinoStop Screen is the preferred crash barrier solution to shield pathways adjacent to pallet racking or areas where stock items are stacked vertically.

The alignment of the w-beam guardrail with the edge of the deck ensures the barrier does not encroach into valuable factory or warehouse space.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does RhinoStop Heavy Duty work?

The yielding behaviour of the RhinoStop Heavy Duty baseplate absorbs vehicle impact energy, reducing the peak loads transferred to the anchor bolts. The deflection of the system allows for greater load transfer to the adjacent posts, sharing the impact load from the vehicle.

RhinoStop Heavy Duty has demonstrated containment of a 2000 kg dual cab utility vehicle travelling at 30 km/h and impacting the barrier at 90 degrees. Crash testing was performed with the crash barrier system installed on the perimeter edge of a 150 mm thick elevated concrete slab. There was no damage to the anchors which were reusable.

The RhinoStop Heavy Duty crash tested containment of a 2000 kg dual cab utility vehicle travelling at 30 km/h and impacting the barrier at 90 degrees equates to an impact energy of 67.2 kilojoules. This is the equivalent impact energy of a 10,000 kg vehicle travelling at 13 km/h or a 20,000 kg vehicle travelling at 9 km/h.

Yes, the modular design of RhinoStop Heavy Duty can be configured with a pedestrian handrail and mesh infill panels.

The w-beam guardrails used in the assembly of RhinoStop Heavy Duty may be powder-coated safety yellow to enhance site visibility.

Yes, RhinoStop Heavy Duty has been full-scale crash tested when installed along the edge of a 150 mm thick elevated concrete deck representing a loading dock application. This crash test configuration is designed to evaluate vehicle impact behaviour, potential for concrete edge failure and the suitability of the anchor embedment depth.

The average weight of new vehicle sold in Australia is approximately 2000 kg as the vehicle fleet continues to shift towards SUVs and dual cab utility vehicles. It is therefore important that the specified warehouse barrier has demonstrated the ability to withstand these heavier vehicle impacts.

RhinoStop Heavy Duty is an all-steel construction. The energy absorbing posts and w-beam guardrails are hot dip galvanised providing a durable finish.

The spacing of the posts to withstand this impact condition is 800 mm centres.

Yes. The alignment of the w-beam guardrail does not change when RhinoStop Standard posts are substituted for RhinoStop Heavy Duty posts. This allows designers to install the RhinoStop Heavy Duty posts at locations throughout the system where higher speed or higher energy impacts are possible.
