RHINO-STOP posts and w-beam guardrails are hot dip galvanised. Powder-coating of w-beam guardrails is an optional extra.
RHINO-STOP w-beam guardrail safety barrier features specially engineered base plates that are designed to yield upon impact and absorb the kinetic energy of the impacting vehicle. This reduces the forces transferred through the anchor bolts and prevents damage to the concrete substrate.
Traditional w-beam guardrail safety barrier posts with base plates typically require up to four (4) anchor bolts per post and are limited to the pull-out strength provided by the anchors. It is common for these w-beam guardrail safety barrier systems to fail at low impact loads and there is often extensive damage to the concrete substrate.\n\nThe yielding action of the RHINO-Post absorbs impact energy at a controlled rate. This allows the system to withstand high loads and reduces the forces transferred to the concrete substrate, preventing damage to the anchors. This is an important consideration for car park owners.
Each RHINO-STOP post is anchored with just one (1) M20 anchor with a typical embedment depth of 105mm. Mechanical anchors may be used when the substrate is 200mm thick and 32Mpa. When the substrate is less that 200mm, chemical anchors may be used. Please contact Safe Direction for details of anchors.
The maximum spacing between RHINO-STOP posts is 2000mm.
RHINO-STOP w-beam guardrail safety barrier has been crash tested to comply with and exceed the 30kN impact load described for Light Traffic Areas in AS/NZS 1170.1. Impacts were performed with a 1500kg vehicle travelling at speeds of up to 15km/h, more than twice the prescribed impact speed of the standard. Testing was conducted on a single 4m w-beam guardrail panel supported by three RHINO-STOP posts. Impacts were undertaken at the end of the safety barrier system to evaluate maximum loading.
RHINO-STOP is available with handrail and mesh infill when fall protection is required for pedestrians. Finished system heights of 1100mm and 1300mm are available.
