What is the finish of Rhino-Stop® 240?
RHINO-STOP®️ 240 posts and w-beam guardrails are hot dip galvanised. Powder-coating of w-beam guardrails is an optional extra.
How does Rhino-Stop® 240 work?
RHINO-STOP®️ 240 w-beam guardrail safety barrier features specially engineered base plates that are designed to yield upon impact and absorb the kinetic energy of the impacting vehicle. This reduces the forces transferred through the anchor bolts and prevents damage to the concrete substrate.
What crash testing has been performed with Rhino-Stop® 240?
RHINO-STOP®️ 240 w-beam guardrail safety barrier has been crash tested to comply with and exceed the 240kN impact load described for Light Traffic Areas in AS/NZS 1170.1. The impact was performed with a 2000kg vehicle travelling at 29km/h. Testing was conducted on a single 4m w-beam guardrail panel supported by six (6) RHINO-STOP®️ 240 posts at 800mm centres.
When is a 240kn safety barrier required?
AS/NZS 1170.1, Section 3.8 requires barriers at the end of straight ramps exceeding 20m in length and intended for downward travel to withstand an impact force of 240kN. The impact force shall be distributed over a 1.5 m length at any position along the barrier and shall be assumed to act at 0.5 m above floor level.
How many anchor bolts does each Rhino-Stop® 240 posts require?
Each RHINO-STOP®️ 240 post is anchored with just two (2) M20 anchors. Preferred embedment depth is 130mm. Minimum embedment depth is 105mm. Anchors must be supplied or approved by Safe Direction®️.
What is the spacing between posts?
The maximum spacing between RHINO-STOP®️ 240 posts is 800mm when compliance to the 240kN impact condition is required. RHINO-STOP®️ 240 may be installed with posts at 2m centres when heavy duty protection is required.
Can Rhino-Stop® 240 be used in conjunction with standard Rhino-Stop®?
Yes, the two systems are compatible. The only difference between the two systems is the post type and the post spacing. The w-beam guardrail and any attachments will remain continuous throughout the installation. This allows for a smooth transition between barrier types when an area opposite a down ramp is encountered.
What attachment are available with Rhino-Stop® 240?
RHINO-STOP®️ 240 is available with handrail and mesh infill when fall protection is required for pedestrians. Finished system heights of 1100mm and 1300mm are available.
What is Rhino-Stop® 240 made of?
RHINO-STOP®️ 240 Heavy Duty w-beam guardrails are made using Australian steel and hot-dip galvanised after fabrication.
