RamShield® High Containment (HC), the latest addition to Safe Direction’s RamShield guardrail system, is the standout system in its class for low deflection, safely contained redirection of heavy mass vehicles.
Terry Colquhoun, Safe Direction’s Business Development Director, said that Safe Direction, through its customers, recognised there was a big gap in the market for a low deflection MASH TL4 barrier.
RamShield® HC has a MASH TL3 deflection of 1.0m, and a MASH TL4 deflection of 1.1m and a working width of 1.2m, the latter being less than half that of competing systems. Dynamic deflection is the distance from the face of the barrier required to any excavation whereas working width is the required distance measured from the face of the barrier to light poles, trees, sign masts, bridge piers, buildings etc.
Colquhoun said that the exceptionally low deflection and working width make RamShield® HC the only semi-rigid barrier suitable for a large percentage of applications and that this feature will likely meet the market need for a system with greater restraint.
