Newcastle Bridge Guardrail Project

The Scholey Street Bridge project was a joint Newcastle City Council and Transport for NSW project to replace the railway overbridge and provide a safe, shared pedestrian and bike path. The new 230 metre pathway provides safety for cyclists riding between the city centre and university as well as pedestrians accessing Tighes Hill TAFE, Islington Public School and Islington Park.

The bridge works involved replacement of a 3 span brick and timber overbridge with a single span concrete bridge. The superstructure comprises of 6 super T Girders and a Retaining Earth Wall.
